Zimbabwe – A woman and her son have made the unthinkable that they fell in love with each other, and now they want to get married since the mom is six months pregnant and is expecting her son’s baby.
Mbereko (40), who became a widow 12 years ago, lived with her first child, Farai Mbereko (23). She told us that she was six months pregnant and that she has decided that it is better to marry her son because she does not want to marry the young brothers of her late husband, whom she says lusts over her .
The woman stunned a village court last week when she said the love relationship with her son had started three years earlier. She said, after spending a lot of money to send er son Farai to school after her husband died, she was entitled to his money in return and no other woman was entitled to it.
‘‘ Look, I tried alone to send my son to school and no one helped me. Now you see that my son is working and making money and you blame me for doing something wrong. Let me savor the products of my sweat, ?? she said at the village court.
Farai says he was more than willing to marry his mother and pay off the balance of the bride price, which his father did not pay to his grandparents. I know my father died before he finished paying the bride’s price and I’m ready to pay, he said.
It is better to publicize what is going on. People need to know that I am the one who made my mother pregnant. Otherwise, they will accuse her of being a she goat and a loose woman.
But local chief Nathan Mptrwa says: We cannot allow this to happen in our village. In the past, they had to be killed, but today we cannot do it because we are afraid of the police. He warns them to end their marriage or to leave the village. They chose the latter and left the village for an unknown destination.
